On Martha's Vineyard there are clustered over 300 tiny colorful gingerbread cottages. Using an assortment of detailed laser cut trims; students will design and build their own campground cottage based on those found in the campground of the Martha's Vineyard Campmeeting Association. Students will learn about the history of the cottages as well as historic construction techniques. A selection of reference materials will be available.

Students will start with the basic cottage and add their choice of an addition, a wrap around porch, or their favorite style balcony. The instructor will also provide a large selection of gingerbread trims, balusters and columns to adorn the cottages.

Every student will leave with their own cottage, as individual as they are. Students are encouraged to bring their own assortment of paints to personalize their cottage.

Student Supplies and Tools Needed: Basic Tool Kit to include favorites as well as: X-acto knife, new knife blades, ruler, tweezers, scissors, and assortment of paint brushes for house and detail work, as well as individual paint choices.
